4 Shot at Howe Park Sacramento — Unauthorized Gathering Erupts in Gunfire | April 18, 2026

How Park Shooting

Howe Park shooting Sacramento — on Saturday evening, April 18, 2026, what started as an unauthorized gathering of several hundred people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area turned violent when 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were in the process of clearing the crowd.

How It Unfolded

At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received calls reporting individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. A second caller reported a potential fight and people running from the area. Air support was deployed and searched the park but was unable to locate any active disturbance.

Several hundred people had gathered at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized gathering. Deputies surrounded the park, activated emergency lights on their vehicles, and spent approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers. As law enforcement was clearing the area, 20 to 25 gunshots rang out — sending hundreds of people running in all directions.

The Victims

Four victims — a woman and three men, all in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and assisted with triage on scene.

The Crime Scene

The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. The Home Depot was briefly placed on lockdown. Additional shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the wrought iron fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot — indicating a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward Home Depot. CSI investigators and detectives worked the scene through the night.

Suspects

Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia — was pulled over in Solano County with four detainees. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were en route to collect the suspects and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two shooters were involved.
